Death Becomes Us Cozy Mystery Book Club

Before I started writing, which was in my mid-thirties, I belonged to a book club. We had so much fun. We'd show up, grab a drink and catch up with each other for the next twenty minutes while we wait on everyone to get there.

We had so much fun discussing the books and the anticipation of what book was going to be picked next. It was a lot of fun. But like a lot things....time, children, and life happened and our book club had a hard time meeting.

Writing is my full time job and I have a hard time finding time to read. It's been a challenge for me. I have to carve out one or two days a month to do nothing but read. Then what. . . .I want to discuss the book, but my two dogs, Charlie and Scooter, don't have much  to say.

Then it hit me! I wanted to start an online book club that featured cozy mysteries. I'm so excited with the interest. I decided to have it on Facebook. I know some people aren't on Facebook, but a lot are and it's such an easy place to be and come together as a group.

If you aren't on Facebook, I beg that you join. It's easy and free! There is so much community over there and discussing books are one of them! We love books right?! Join Death Becomes Us Cozy Mystery Book Club on Facebook! We'd love to have you!

  16. I tried a book club once and handed out the books to 12 people and only three people showed up to the book meeting and only 5 actually read the book so I gave up on the idea. But an online one sounds great because it gives people from all over a chance to be a part of this instead of the people just in your area who don't bother. nerdsrgood@msn.com Thanks for the chance to win!

  34. I participated in a professional book club with my teaching colleagues, but was somewhat disappointed by a regular book club I joined; some of my insights to the book weren't well received. But, I've noticed 'cozy' fans are all inclusive from very superficial comments to deep motivations. I am excited about this book club...thank you.

  38. I tried it once, but we could never agree on a meeting time that was good for everyone, so it pretty much fell apart. I do like connecting with people one on one over books we liked and disliked, and hearing recommendations. I don't always agree, but it is fun to be in like minded company! blueirishmoon at hotmail dot com

  40. I belong to one online. Once a year we try to meet up for a weekend somewhere. One year was New Orleans another was Boston. It is pretty cool. I like talking about the books. Getting to know one another is fun. I have met some really good friends from that group. I would love to have one in town, too. I am looking forward to being in this one and getting to know everyone. I think it's going to be so much fun discussing the books! On Facebook I use my maiden name so it is Frances C Hampton, I think. Lol. I can't remember if the C is there or not. cristinaalaska at gmail dot com.

  45. No book clubs for me. I've always felt they were too restrictive as to what they read, when and how long it takes them to read the book. I'm pretty selective in my reading choices and don't play well with others! LOL....sorry, I had to say that! Not really, but I find way to many readers don't like historical romances with some historical mystery/suspense thrown in.

  52. You know I've been a member of various book clubs over the years. The one that has held on the longest is The Whine, Cheese, and Chick Lit group I go to every month. We read just about anything that pops up - chick lit, mystery, suspense, whatever we feel like that month. I enjoy getting out once a month to eat, drink, laugh, and talk books with the girls. Best night out of the month!

  53. Although I am an avid reader and enjoy many genres, I have never belonged to a book club. A combination of a crazy work schedule and the fact that I am not much of a 'joiner' are my excuses, which are probably just my rationalization for not doing it.

  58. I belong to two book clubs. One meets only on e a month and the other meets every week. I do have a hard time reading a book a week because I do have other activities to do but the members don't mind if you hacen't read the book that week. It is good to attend though because you get to hear all about the books and can decide if you want to read that author or not.

  66. I've never been in a book club but I think I'd be willing to try it with like minded book lovers. I love to read many different genres and always like to challenge myself to pick up a book that I wouldn't necessarily read on my own and read it. I've found many good books by aimlessly walking around a book store looking for that lost novel that needs a good home.
