(This is me and oldest twin in our old kitchen)
THEN...
I was driving in one of my FIVE carpools to school and there was a house for sale. Yep, we bought it, moved, and a year later....another kitchen remodel!
(Hubby and son's friend in photo)
As you can see, I went with a much lighter kitchen with stainless steel, butcher block and bamboo elements. It's totally gorg! I will show you a pic when it's all said and done....
BUT THAT IS NOW MY EARLY CHRISTMAS GIFT!
After three years of learning the in's and out's of self publishing, I decided it was time to do the HYBRID thing. What is that? Most of you readers don't know the term and probably don't care.
Here is the deal.
A hybrid author is someone who self publishes and traditionally publishes with a publisher. Yes. I am in Barnes and Noble because I made my own deal as a self published author, which is pretty much unheard of. Remember I DON'T TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER!
But what about film rights and foreign rights? Yes. I have been approached by several foreign rights publishers but I don't have time to focus on understanding all of that or I would never get all those books out to you *wink*.
So....I signed with an agent to help broker those deals and I couldn't be more happy. And yes, I will write some novels to be published traditionally.
What does this mean to you, my readers?
Really not a big change in how much books I put out a year because I will still be self publishing my series and traditionally publishing some new series. I'm still traveling all over, just like I always have, hosting my street team parties and hanging with y'all! Which reminds me...have you checked out my website for all of my 2014 events yet?? I'm traveling, traveling, traveling and hoping to meet you soon!!
Leave a comment on what you want for the holidays for chance to win a TEAM TONYA TOTE BAG!!!
I want a Kindle! My sister got me a Nook for Christmas last year, but I've got more books in my Kindle Cloud Reader than I do on my Nook. It's just not as easy to lug my laptop around as it is my Nook, so I need Santa to bring me a Kindle!! LOL
ReplyDeleteLook into Calibre. It's an e-book management system that will convert your kindle books to epub format so you can load them onto your Nook. I have a Nook as well and have over 1500 Kindle books I've converted.
DeleteOh, and it's free btw.
DeleteGlad you have some help on the contract end of things. You do great writing and I hope you find time to someday complete the paranormal stories your contemplating...smile. For Christmas, I would like to have a new digital camera. Mine is starting to blur the pictures at the worst times, and I don't want to miss those special shots of my grandsons.
ReplyDeleteLOL, there is nothing on my Christmas list. I haven't had one in over 6 years now. It's not that I have or get what ever I want, it's I don't expect anything from anyone anymore.
ReplyDeleteLove your kitchen , Hope you and your family have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!!!!!!
i want a treadmill, i have a back injury that affects the way i walk and my balance so i can't walk outside much. i think this would be a great way to make sure i am still getting some exercise and also strengthen the muscles i need to. :) i know boring huh! LOL!

ReplyDeleteAll I want for Christmas is for business to get better at the bookstore. It's gotten to the point we're thinking about closing.
ReplyDeleteTo be with my family and to get something pretty. I need a lot of things, but sometimes I'd like to get something just because it's pretty!
ReplyDeleteYou sound like me. I'm very spontaneous too. For Christmas I would love a pair of Tory Burch ballet flats.
ReplyDeleteI got what I wanted for Christmas...I wanted to be able to give my kids a nice Christmas, and thanks to a lot of great people buying my Angels, they will get gifts this year :) I am excited to spend time with my son that has been away at college...let the family time begin !
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS!!!! So excited & happy for you! I put books on my Christmas list! I just want the kids to have a good time!
ReplyDeleteI want a Kindle Fire - I have a nook, and on my iPhone, I have nook, Kindle, and iBooks, but I like the idea of an e-reader also being a tablet and Amazon tends to give more free books, so... I also want, and have already received, the new Garth Brooks Box Set. :)
ReplyDeleteI am very happy for you. A publisher will only be a plus. My wish is that my back surgery goes well on the 20th. I also hope my family enjoys the gift giving and Jesus's birthday cake as they celebrate.
ReplyDeleteI'm very happy for you my sweet friend. Hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteCurtis Brown better stay on their toes if they hope to keep pace with you, Tonya.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you. that is so exciting.. I would love a kindle or tablet to use the kindle app on..
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you!! This is exciting news! :) For Christmas, I would love to find a job. I have been out of work for two years. It makes things difficult sometimes. At the same time, in those two years, I have had some great experiences. I would never trade those for anything. There are many other things I would like for Christmas, but I am content with what I have. I have unconditional love.
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!! I just want my kids happy for Christmas and if Santa is around then maybe a kindle!
ReplyDeleteThe rest of the bedroom set to go with the bed. It would be the only room in the house that is not hand me down, no one wanted anymore furniture. Completely and totally only ours

ReplyDeleteYou are awesome and you rock. Just reading about all this is making me tired. Anyway I am all about bags. I no longer allow the plastic kind in my home so I am always up for a tote. And by the way I thought maybe you got a new car. LOL I read Toyota instead of Tonya LOL I need more sleep I think.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new house and kitchen. Would love to get one of your totes for Christmas.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway Tonya! What I'd love for Christmas is just to be pain free....working on that one...I would like a new Samsung Tablet 10 inch...but I can be patient for that if it doesn't come for Christmas. I hope everyone's dreams come true. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. Hugs <3
ReplyDeleteWhat I want for Christmas changes on a daily basis ;) Right now I'm working on my health and I hope to eventually get in gear with my writing, so that's my wish - that the doctor's figure things out so that I can feel better and be able to do the many thinks I want to do, but have been having trouble doing. Hubby also has an interview he is waiting to hear about and that would be awesome to finally hear about that too.
ReplyDeleteI want my sisters doctor to tell her that he got all the cancer in her body and she is in full
ReplyDeleteremission and that she will watch her young children grow up as well as her grandchildren.
Oh and for the drs. to find out why I have been constantly dizzy for the past 75 days so I
can fly to Florida and visit my sister.
Congratulations on the publisher! That is very exciting.
ReplyDeleteI want slippers. Kicking off my shoes when I come home and sliding into slippers is amazing. My old pair seems to be missing ( I think the dog got one). ~ Teri
ReplyDeleteBoth kitchens are lovely. Ready to do a third? Just keep writing, however it gets published. Thanks. BobbiPad@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you Bobbi!!! You win :)
DeleteCongratulations Tonya! I'm so proud of you. To think, I knew you back when. :-D
ReplyDeleteThat boy is getting big! Mine's also taller than me. He loves it. Like your description of you new kitchen. I'd love to redo mine. It's one of the downs with this house because it's a galley styled kitchen and I love the big ole country kitchens. But, despite that, I count my house as one of my blessings.
Happy holidays!
Sia McKye Over Coffee
Congrats on all the wonderful happenings in your life Tonya, that is awesome!! What do I want for Christmas?? To finish my first book and get it published.....*sigh*
ReplyDeleteFor Christmas this year, I want to host a party for expanded family. We have had several people in the family pass and I want us all together this year to celebrate what is happening in our lives.
