Favorite part of Halloween? Well, as corny as it sounds, it's getting together with friends. Thanksgiving is strictly close family. Christmas is rarely friends. But somehow I always get to see friends and neighbors during Halloween.
ReplyDeletePlus, now that most of my friends are beginning to rent apartments and castles (we're all twenty somethings), they're starting to throw big Halloween parties. Which means it's also becoming a holiday to see old acquaintances and meet some new ones as well.
Very cool, Andrew!! You are right. Halloween is a time for friends to get together and have a great time. We have a big fire pit where the neighbors gather while their kids are trick or treating, plus a few snacks/adult beverages too;)
ReplyDeleteI love that your friends are having way cool parties in their castles!! No castles around here...boo!!
You are entered on my blog!! Go on over to the others and enter there too!
I had to stop by and see what your evil chuckling was all about. :-)
ReplyDeleteI really don't do anything for Halloween. Believe it or not, it's always given me the willies. But I do love all the candies--there is such a variety in fall colors and some things that you can only get around this time of the year. Oh, and I LOVE all the treats that go on sale on November 1st.
Did I miss the info on this? Must have. What is this blog hop and I sign up to do what, exactly?

What I like most about Halloween is that it's my wife's birthday. She LOVES Halloween and now that we can take the kids trick or treating too it's turned from a big holiday in our house to one of the biggest days of the year.
ReplyDeleteYou are never to old to enjoy running around in a silly costume with people you love
socalireefsmod@sbcglobal.net
I enjoy the excitement my daughter gets when it's time to carve the pumpkin, or when she sees the costumes in the store how she can't make up her mind what she wants to be. I also love the fact that we are the only house in the neighborhood that has a full size coffin in the front yard for decoration. (For years we were the only house to put up decorations, this is the first year that others have put some out as well . . looking good around here!)One last thought, it's one day that you can be ANYTHING you want to be.

I don't want an entry, but wanted to share my favorite part. :)
ReplyDeleteThe corny kids Halloween movies. I LOVED watching the Disney ones growing up, and it's the time of year they show Hocus Pocus etc. As a kid, I loved the Mr. Boogedy's and the Canterville Ghost. Now my kids are watching them and the famous It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. LOVE IT!
who doesn't love the candy!!!!
ReplyDeleteSia, I have to say that I LOVE Halloween candy!! I'm a candy junky, so having a couple bowls sitting out really kills the diet!! So glad you joined!
ReplyDeleteHi, Liz! I love dressing up too! A few years ago I made a Puss-n-boots costume! It was so much fun! Another girl came as ME!! Tooo funny!!
ReplyDeleteHi, Laurie! I love to see all the kiddos too. I have a big fire pit to sit around and they come up to get the candy. Plus I decorate a lot too! I have a holiday slim tree in my kitchen that gets decorated for all the seasons!
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely entered into the contest! You will LOVE Madness Under The Mistletoe! It's a fun anthology with GREAT authors.
That would be a great day to have a birthday, Oddball!! Those would be some really awesome parties!! Thanks for entering!
ReplyDeleteHi, Stephanie! You rock! I adore the full size coffin!!! I'd have to hide in it and pop out...oh...
ReplyDeleteI remember those days of picking out costumes. Those are great memories. I have pictures of my kids framed from years past. I put those frames out during each holiday season and when the season is over, I repack them so I can easily pull them out the next year. The boys love looking back.
Those shows never get old, Elizabeth. I still get those warm fuzzy feelings when I watch them.
ReplyDeleteWe have a big mini haunted house. Our family find joy out of scaring all the kids. They love it. We are expecting around 600 kids this year! It' so much fun.

Yikes, I am very VERY scared! :)
ReplyDeleteWould love to be entered in your contest...love fall, the cool crisp air and of course, halloween candy. My favorite candy holiday!
ReplyDeleteCarmee/miaross1961@yahoo.com
OK, of course I love the candy, and spooky haunted house music...

We love decorating our yard for the trick-or-treaters and our 12 grandkids. My husband dresses like a zombie and hides in a coffin propped up in the yard. Needless to say...Halloween is his favorite holiday. Sally

My favorite part of Halloween would be roasting and eating pumpkin seeds....something I always look forward to when fall comes around :) Now that I have kids (7 & 4) I also love hearing what they want to dress up as and on THE day see them in their costumes....way too much fun as a mom! Thanks for a great giveaway and Happy Halloween!!

I think the best thing about halloween is the make believe. The only time of year when you can be absolutely anything!
ReplyDeleteMy Uncle was very imaginative with his halloween decorating & he always included me. One year I refused to trick or treat so I could be an alien to go with the giant spaceship he built. We made a haunted yard & ran out of candy, the kids kept coming & said "We don't want candy, we wanna go again!"

I love the horror of it all. I love everything about it. Also it was my Paternal Grandparent Wedding Anniversary. I would love to have a halloween wedding :)Braddockc@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love halloween. Decorating the house. Dressing uo. Scaring the neighborhood children. Candy!
ReplyDeleteMaryevelyn98@yahoo.com
Love that it is for kids of all ages! To be able to decorate so its just scary enough for the bigger kids but not over the top for the little ones is something we treasure doing whenever we can.
ReplyDeleteWhat I love about Halloween is the party that a friend of mine has every year. Everybody dresses up, we do karaoke and have a great time!
ReplyDeletesndcuster@aol.com
I love seeing my kids' enthusiasm and carving pumpkins. I also love candy corn!
ReplyDeletembamster0720 at gmail dot com
I love the never-ending imagination of children and the continued youthfulness of adults that get to exercise their own imaginations and never grow old :) The magic of the night lives on and on.
ReplyDeleteMandi!! I LOVE THAT!!! You crack me up! There was a house like that in our neighborhood when our kids were little and the boys loved it! Have a great time!!
ReplyDeleteCarmee, I just picked up some candy corn today! I hate to say that I ate the entire bag! I too love the crisp fall air! Thanks for stopping!
ReplyDeleteMarce, my DH loves the scary music too! He puts out the fog machine and cracks up the sound system!
ReplyDeleteSally?? I can't get past the 12 grandkids! FUN grandparents you guys are. I love that your DH dresses up and pops out of a coffin!
ReplyDeleteMichelle, I love roasting seeds too. That is the only time of the year my kids eat pumpkin seeds. BUT Halloween is so much fun when you are a mommy!! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteGoodie~ what a fab memory!! Your uncle really did make it special for you. I'd want to go in your spaceship too!!! WOW! Plus I love that we can be anything we want to be....awesome!
ReplyDeleteOMG, Chrissie! Your grandparents are so funny! I love that!! What a wonderful anniversary. I can just imagine the wedding! I'm not a big fan of getting scared, and people that love that amaze me!
ReplyDeleteMary, your response made me giggle! I LOVE the fact that you love to scare the kids.
ReplyDeleteMiss Piggy~we love looking at all the little ones! That really does make the night special.
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing better than a costume party with friends, Aubbie! I hope you have a wonderful time!
ReplyDeleteOh, Melissa! I just ate some candy corn! Carving pumpkins have really become an art. There are so many good ones on our block.
ReplyDeleteSusan, it is a great night to enjoy all the costumes and continue to be a kid no matter what your age is.
ReplyDeleteLOVE to see the little ones dress up in costumes, especially the ones who don't even know they are dressed up--so funny :) And the dogs too. Cracks me up every time. Me in costume, not so much ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the trick or treating, having a blast!
Mary.olaughlin@yahoo.com
I love the costumes and decorations!!! Halloween is my favorite holiday ... it's fun and playful and everyone goes a little goth!
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me trick-or-treat with you!

My favorite part of Halloween is definitely all the candy! We don't do Halloween at my house, so I look forward to the candy being marked down at the store the next day! LOL
ReplyDeleteI have a Nook, so any Kindle ebook is incompatible... This giveaway is not for me. But I still wanted to say thanks for participating in the Trick or Treat! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd this year my favorite part of Halloween has been carving pumpkins with my son.
Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday, what's not to love? You get to dress up as anything you want and get paid in candy for it! Kinda like a confectionary call girl? I dunno... lol but yes I love Halloween!
ReplyDeletePost pix of the Puss-n-Boots costume. Ha.
ReplyDeleteWe've used music before to scare Trick-or-Treaters. One year I used a tape I had of some whales communicating in the wild. At night, when you're approaching a stranger's house and you hear whales talking ... it can be VERY spooky.
Favorite thing about Halloween has always been making my daughter's costume. She gets to be whoever she wants to be(within my sewing abilities!)
ReplyDeleteI love just about everything about the holiday. I have always loved halloween. I love the costumes and the decorations.
ReplyDeleteI love watching the toddlers and their costumes. My daughters are older and their costumes are more involved, but I love the simple little toddler costumes. That's why my son takes his sisters Trick or Treating. He says I slow them down with the AWW's and OOOOO's.lol

My fave part of Halloween is getting dressed up and going trick-or-treating. Some people would probably say that I'm too old (almost 30) but I just ignore them. I have a lot of fun and the neighborhood where I t-or-t doesn't seem to care :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Mary! I love seeing dogs in costumes too!! It is funny that kids don't know they are dressed up! I never thought about that! Hahahaaa!
ReplyDeleteHi, Danielle! There are a lot of goth in my neighborhood, especially now with all the zoombie stuff out there.
ReplyDeleteThe day after Halloween is GREAT!!! April. I also go after and get more:))
ReplyDeleteSarah! I'm so sorry! If you win, I can still send you a book and some goodies. So you are still in!!
ReplyDeleteOMG Rueresti! You are a hoot! You could so dress up at a confectionery call center gal!! Heck, I might steal that costume.
ReplyDeleteOh, Jeff~I'm not sure I even have a picture, but it was sooooo good!! Whales in the wild...now that is a creepy sound!
ReplyDeleteKananuki~you must be really talented! My kids had to go to Kmart and get theirs.
ReplyDeleteNatalie, I've always loved Halloween too. It's so fun to just let loose!
ReplyDeleteHahaaa! Melanie that sounds like my bunch. I don't go anymore either. My four boys are all teenagers and they don't want me hanging around anyways! So....I get to get any piece of candy they bring back. Fair is fair!
ReplyDeleteYou are never too old, Angie!! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI like the neighborhood community time of Halloween. People who usually barely wave in the morning in the rush to get to work will chat with the other sentinel parents on the sidewalk; it's one of the rare times that people have down time that they don't feel guilty about!
ReplyDeleteElizabeth Anne Mitchell
I love the costumes and carving pumpkins. Such great fun! Autumn is by far the best season of the year here in the midwestern US. Wish it could last forever!
ReplyDeleteI love that people allow themselves to be kids again for a little bit & kids get to be kids!
ReplyDeleteLove your site & graphics for Halloween! Great job!
I have loved seeing my kids get excited about dressing up and going trick or treating the most!
